Dave Armstrong - Out Of Touch
Armstrong's second hit, and the version that overtook it.
After Armstrong's 2003 hit "Make Your Move", he decided to collaborate with fellow Vancouver singer Ingrid Hanakson for a new single entitled "Out of Time" based around a sample from Hall & Oates' "Out of Touch". The track was originally produced in late 2003 and a full vinyl pressing would come in 2004. Much like his previous track, "Out of Time" was also championed out by DJs around the world, and by late 2004 UK act Uniting Nations put their own spin on the same sample and called it "Out of Touch" (with the vocals this time being sung by Jinian Wilde). Similarly to the story of "Make Your Move", the "copycat" version became bigger, with Uniting Nations' version reaching number 7 in their home country of the UK. Around the same time that the Uniting Nations version was released, Dave Armstrong's version was re-released on other labels across the globe and retitled "Out of Touch". When asked about the inspiration for their version, Uniting Nations member Daz Sampson said that "I was playing GTA and thought it would be a great idea to use the hook". But what do you think: did they copy Dave's, or was it just a coincidence?
